Our featured local artist for November and December is Anna Sokol. Join us at Barcelona for her reception on Tuesday, November 16th from 5-7pm. Complimentary light tapas will be provided.

I create paintings with brushwork without thinking. Each composition and color palette comes after a while of scribbling and large brush movements. I paint with acrylic, add detail with pastel, markers, and add collage pieces at times. My intention is to bring your surroundings color and vibrancy and to convey my joy and creative expression through each piece. The ideal collector loves color, abstract lines, and emotional brushwork.

For over 10 years, you have witnessed the many transformations of Art with Anna. From after-school art in a basement, to expanded classes, to a bright space worthy of creating + community, we have learned first-hand to trust the process that is life. During these years, I have taught classes, delegated roles and nurtured my dream into a legitimate + successful business. The gift of this process has allowed me to invest time into my craft and passion: abstract painting.

Learning to bring color and creativity to life came from my mother. As an art teacher, my mom instilled the love of art to me and my brothers from day one. She not only to taught me how to experience the joy of creating something myself, but to also teach others the joy of creating. My dad encouraged us to choose paths as adults that would help others. As a pre-teen, I remember rounding up little kids throughout my neighborhood, bringing them to my house and for $5.00 per person, teaching them how to create their own masterpieces – just like mom, and helping them to learn – just like dad sought for us. Painting is my joy, my therapy. It is satisfying when an art piece comes to life, when ideas, colors, and emotion transform a blank canvas.
